Multiplayer in MLB The Show 26 can be awesome, but nothing kills a game faster than network errors or constant disconnects. As an experienced gamer, I’ve tested what actually works, so here’s the guide to get you back online fast.
Step 1: Check the Servers
Before blaming your console or internet, make sure the problem isn’t on the game’s end.
1. Disable 120Hz Output (PS5 Only)
1. Change DNS Settings
Manually setting DNS can fix routing problems or high latency:
Step 1: Check the Servers
Before blaming your console or internet, make sure the problem isn’t on the game’s end.
- Check MLB The Show X Twitter for maintenance updates.
- Use DownDetector to see if others are reporting outages.
If servers are down, there’s not much you can do except wait.
1. Disable 120Hz Output (PS5 Only)
- MLB The Show 26 has a known bug with 120Hz causing crashes or network errors.
- Go to:
and turn it Off.Code:Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enable 120Hz Output
- Exit the game completely.
- Disconnect your console from the internet in system settings.
- Restart MLB The Show 26 to the main menu.
- Reconnect your console while the game is running.
This method refreshes the connection and can clear temporary server handshake issues.
- If you keep lagging or getting disconnected in Ranked, go to your Profile (top left) and toggle Crossplay Off.
- You’ll only match with players on the same console, which can improve stability.
1. Change DNS Settings
Manually setting DNS can fix routing problems or high latency:
- Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
- Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
- Turn off your PS5 or Xbox completely.
- Unplug the power cable for at least 60 seconds.
- Restart to clear temporary system cache that can interfere with multiplayer.
- Wi-Fi often causes packet loss, triggering disconnects.
- Plug in an Ethernet cable directly to your console for the most stable multiplayer experience.
- On your console, go to storage settings, select MLB The Show 26, and choose Clear Cache or Clear Data.
- Important: This won’t delete Diamond Dynasty progress since that’s stored on the servers, but it clears any corrupted local data causing network errors.
